The Last Concubine
The Last Concubine

Available July 13 at: http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/upcoming_products.php

When Princess Lan’xiu’s brother delivers her under duress into General Hüi Wei’s harem as a political offering, her only question is how soon her secret will be discovered. She is under no illusions: when the general discovers she is actually a he, death is his only future—though he doesn’t plan to make it easy. Lan’xiu has dressed as a woman all his life, but he is no damsel in distress. He can swing a sword with the best of them.

General Hüi Wei has everything a man could want: power, wealth, success on the battlefield, and a harem of concubines. At first, he regards Lan’xiu with suspicion, but he finds himself strangely drawn to her. When he discovers the beautiful young woman is actually a man, his first reaction is to draw his sword. Rather than waste such beauty, he decides to enjoy the spirited Lan’xiu’s submission—and ignites a passion and desire deeper than anything he’s felt with other wives. But court intrigue, political ambitions, and the general's doubts may be too much for their love to overcome.

Yay! I'm so glad this is finally getting published. I'm very much looking forward to reading again and getting lost in this fascinating world again!

Thank you, Ms Beta. I was thrilled that you enjoyed it enough to recommend I try to get it published. I never thought anyone would and then I found out that cross-dressing is actually a pretty common kink. I have to admit, whilst reviewing the edited ms. I kept getting lost in it again. It's sort of hard to come back from that world. <3

Hi I wanted to just ask a quick question. I just finished reading a A Strong Hand and just wondered if there would be some sort of sequel or a follow on?

I really enjoyed the progression between Damian and Nick but I really want to read more of Ashley and Derek. I was deeply fascinated by this pair and although we get a few details on their relationship I felt like these 2 could perhaps have more to them and would really love to see a continuation or maybe a novel focused more on this pair.

I'd love to know how Derek and Ashley started and more importantly how they end, I did enjoy seeing that further into the book that he seemed more at ease in his relationship with Ashley and by reading that scene right then I knew instantly things were going very good for the both of them and they were progressing splendidly.

However I really didn't see enough of them not as much as I'd have liked to however the progression between the two main characters truly did make up for that. I would really like to have read more on Derek and Ashley I really hope to see a possible novel out based on their story sometime

thank you for taking the time to read my comment and for writing such a wonderful story I truly enjoyed reading this book.

I really hadn't thought of a sequel. It's interesting your asking about the secondary characters. Usually they're secondary because you haven't given as much thought to them as the primary.

I can see Ashley and Derek having their own story. I knew their backstory when I wrote about them and I think they do have a good relationship and will turn out well. It's clear their needs and desires fit very well together.

I will seriously consider this. Right now I'm finishing another novel nothing like this, and then I have a collaboration with another author to get back to. So I can't promise when or if, but you made me start thinking about them and maybe they will get to insisting on their own story. I can just see Derek teasing Nick with the kinds of things he enjoys just to get a rise out of him.

Thank you very much for the compliment and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's a real compliment that you were interested in the second set of characters as well as it means they lived for you in a real way. It makes me very happy. :-)

i can't tell you enough on how much i love this novel. i couldn't put it down once i started reading, i spent half the night and well into the early morning reading. i had to force myself to put this novel down so i could catch a little shut eyes before the day began again so i could continue to read.

it was a lovely place you have brought me to. the humour, love, and understanding that exist in the world you created is just breathtaking.

once again i have to say i love this novel and can't wait to re-read it again in a few days.

i can't wait to read more of your future releases.

Thank you! That is so exciting to hear that you couldn't put it down. I'm sorry it interfered with your rest though. :-)

I was hoping to make the adventure part of it exciting as they lived in a rather exciting world, with stringent social codes but savage wars and fights. Breathtaking is an extraordinary compliment and I will eagerly take it.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it the way you did. I wrote this for a friend and she requested a cross dressing hero, although she did not require a historical Chinese setting. I never really thought anyone else would ever see it, but she had the same reaction you did and sat up all night to read it.

It was a challenge to me to write about Lan'xiu's preference for cross dressing with respect and tenderness and I'm glad that came across.

I hope you will like my other releases as well. I only wish I could write faster and get more out there, but RL intrudes.

Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! You have really made my day! :-)
