The Cage
Coming soon on July 31, 2015 at DreamspinnerPress.

Welcome to The Cage, where you can share the ups and downs of a group of friends as they enjoy a rollicking adventure of sex and love in “the life”.

Being a Dom has always come naturally to Lazar Thornton, owner and operator of The Cage, a thriving adult toy store and meeting place for Lazar’s closest friends, Bran, Max, Otto, and the always flamboyant and fierce Miss Dré. But even the best of friends have different tastes in scenes—and in life.

Good-humored and laid back, but much in demand as both teacher and Dom, Lazar has always run from love. Until Ben Owen, relative newbie to the BDSM world, arrives wide-eyed and eager to learn, and Lazar wants to teach this sub everything he knows. But despite the openness needed for a Dom/sub relationship to thrive, neither discusses emotions. Feeling the sting of unrequited love, Ben isn’t as sure of his place in Lazar’s life as he wants to be. Lazar will need to read his sub’s heart as well as his mind if he truly wants to keep Ben in his life.

And just because Miss Dré holds a special place in my heart, the back cover is devoted to her.

Hi there, I just finished reading The Cage and of course it was fabulous. I adored Ben. He grew so much as a person with the help of Lazar and their friends. Miss Dre is totally out there. I loved that everyone found what or who they needed in their life.

I do have one question. This is really bugging me. When I started reading Ben's arrival at Lazar's shop I knew I've seen this before but I can't figure out where I read it before. Did you publish a first part of this story before? Maybe something in an anthology that is now out of print?

Hi krazykitten46, I guess we are both catlovers!

Thank you SO MUCH for liking it. This was an experimental thing, following several people's stories, and I was quite nervous that it might not come across. I'm glad you loved Ben. He did come a long way and I like to think his new little family had a lot to do with bringing him up, so to speak.

Miss Dré is my hero, she is so out there, but she is very caring if she loves you. I thought they all needed a happy ending.

In answer to your question, this is totally original. I've never written about these people before and it was never published before. It's not part of any anthology. I can't remember ever writing anything like it before, or reading anything like that. I would never knowingly rip off another writer. Maybe it's similar to something in A Strong Hand, another of my titles?

I mean, I am me, so I'm sure there are similarities in the words I use and the way I phrase things that might resonate with something else I wrote? Because I'm an artist, of the five senses, I know I lean on visual a lot.

There is a famous BDSM shop in San Francisco, called Mr S Leather. I just imagined how I would approach the shop and described it. Sorry I can't help out. It's awful when something like that nags at you and I wish I had a better answer.

Let me thank you again for taking the time to leave me a comment. I really appreciate it!
